Sherlock Holmes
We have your first look at the trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes film due in theaters Christmas Day this year. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams this version of the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle character definitely has that Ritchie flair to it (the bare knuckle boxing angle called bartitsu, comic dialogue, etc…). It’s quite clear that along with the use of this martial art bartitsu and the general action-oriented tone of the film, the filmmakers are looking to take Holmes well beyond being a mere crime solver to turn him into a crime fighter. Given the popularity of comic book heroes at the box office it’s a smart way to repackage an old franchise for a new audience.
Bartitsu – In the film Homes employs a martial art system called bartitsu, also known as the “gentlemanly art of self defense,” that originates in England and was developed between the years 1898 and 1902. It is referenced by Doyle in one of his Sherlock Holmes books.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Like most gamers, both hardcore and casual, I fall into the casual camp, I played the crap out of CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE. I liked the last Call of Duty game, World at War. Liked not loved, I loved COD4.
But Infinity Ward’s work on MODERN WARFARE still makes the franchise the best war game on the market. Here is the trailer for the new game. I am not too sure what I think of the new trailer as it looks like 80% cut scenes. But it still looks cool as hell and I will surely be picking this one up when it hits the market in November.
Fan Made Green Lantern Trailer starring Nathan Fillion
A while back I posted the trailer for the animated Green Lantern Trailer, here. Never being a huge Green Lantern fan, I can probably count on one hand the number of Green Lantern comics I have ever read, but being a fan of superheroes in general I thought this was awesome.
I saw this come across my Twitter feed this morning from Dan Tractenberg from the Totally Rad Show. A fan-made trailer for a fictional Green Lantern movie starring Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity and Castle).
Over the last few months there has been rumors of a live action Green Lantern movie, and the geeks across the inter-webs have been calling for Fillion to squeeze into the green and black tight of Hal Jordan aka the Green Lantern. So, this trailer popped up some time recently on You Tube and as it turns out it is getting tons of views especially after Fillion supposedly posted about it on his twitter feed.
Chuck Has Been Granted a 3rd Season
I am happy to announce ( not that you don’t already know), NBC has ordered a third season of Chuck
From TVGuide.com:
NBC and Warner Bros. have hammered out a deal that will bring back Chuck, Sarah et al for a third season of at least 13 episodes, sources tell TVGuide.com.
As reported on Sunday, this new life does come with a price, however. Or, specifically a lower one. Chuck, which had already trimmed its production budget going into Season 2, will now need to be even leaner and meaner for its next cycle. That could result in a scenario similar to the one seen on ABC’s Scrubs this spring, where certain cast members “went missing” for a week at a time.
One factor perhaps playing into Chuck’s pick-up was NBC’s decision to take a pass on David E. Kelley’s Legally Mad. That incurred a financial penalty from Warner Bros. TV, and there was talk that to “make good” on the amount due, NBC would grant a renewal to Chuck, which is also a WB production.
And now a season 1 gag reel…………
Black Dynamite
Black Dynamite – When “The Man” murders his brother, pumps heroin into local orphanages, and floods the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor, Black Dynamite is the one hero willing to fight all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House. 2009 Sundance Official Selection, starring Michael Jai White from Spawn, The Dark Knight and countless other movies and television episodes stars in this through back to the blaxplotation movies of the 70′s. Think Hot Potato and Dolemite.
See the next post for a preview from the movie.
Gamer Trailer
Plot: Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments, a star player named Kable (Butler) from a game called “Slayers” looks to regain his freedom and escape the prison while taking down the game’s twisted mastermind (Hall). “Game” is written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the duo behind “Crank” and “Crank 2: High Voltage.” Their new movie is scheduled to hit theaters on September 4th.
